Up to 12 inches of snow expected as weather bomb cripples the UK

Heavy snow is continuing to cause disruption across the country as forecasters predict up to 12 inches of snow in places.
Up to 30cm of the white stuff is expected to hit Ireland, while 20cm is likely for central England and Wales.
The snow is causing road and travel disruptions across these regions, grounding flights, shutting down roads and causing traffic accidents.
Flights out of Birmingham, Luton and Stansted airports were all suspended as runways were cleared of snow.
The M1 motorway between London and the north east was partially closed in Leicestershire due to stranded vehicles.

Forecaster Amy Hodgson, from The Weather Channel, said: ‘An area of low pressure will move across the British Isles on Sunday bringing heavy snowfall to central Ireland, Wales, northern and central England.
‘Up to 30cm (12ins) of snow is forecast across Ireland, with 20cm (8ins) likely for Wales and central England. Overnight on Sunday into Monday, the next area of low pressure will move in. Some further snow is likely across Wales and central England.’
Heavy snow and torrential rain is causing flooding in Wales, trapping some people in their cars.
Fire crews in Kenfig Hill, near Bridgend, South Wales, had to carry two women to safety after their car was stuck in water when a stream burst its banks.
The rescue comes after 3,000 homes were left without power in Wales.

Flooding is also threatening homes in Ely, Cardiff and in Swansea.
South Wales Fire Service is reporting water half way up vehicles in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
